Marc Guehi to Liverpool takes transfer twist with Crystal Palace star now likely to stay

TBR Football can reveal that Liverpool are pessimistic about their chances of concluding a deal for Marc Guehi on Monday.

Marc Guehi has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks, with the Crystal Palace centre-back firmly on the radar of Arne Slot amid a summer of ludicrous spending.

Alexander Isak looks to be added to that list, with the Swede making a blockbuster move from St James’ Park to Anfield.

But one man who probably won’t be now is Guehi, TBR Football can confirm.

Exclusive: Marc Guehi to Liverpool looks unlikely

TBR Football can confirm through chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that Guehi to Liverpool may not materialise, with Oliver Glasner keen to keep him at Selhurst Park.

Bailey states, “Talks are ongoing between the two clubs; the player wants this move. However, Anfield sources have confirmed to me that they don’t think it will happen.

“Steve Parish was pushing to get this done as we revealed, but Oliver Glasner’s desire to keep the player looks to be the key factor in this one.

“From this point, very hard to get this one done.”

Bailey also states that Joe Gomez probably won’t go either, meaning Liverpool do have a competent centre-half backup, particularly with Ibrahima Konate’s injury against Arsenal last night.
