Manchester United are now losing interest in Joshua Zirkzee – meaning Arsenal could have a free run at signing the striker.

That is according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.

Well – according to Plettenburg – Manchester United’s desire to sign the Dutchman has “somewhat diminished” as the Red Devils turn their attention to Bayern Munich No.39 Mathys Tel.

The Sky Germany journalist wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “In the past few weeks, Man Utd have intensively analysed (Tel).

“The club have contacted his management and enquired about a potential transfer in the summer. Manchester United’s interest in Zirkzee is still present, but has somewhat diminished in the meantime.”

It comes after Calciomercato claimed that Arsenal are huge admirers of the £50m rated Bologna No.9 and are “crazy” about bringing him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Zirkzee has impressed this season across 26 appearances for Bologna, scoring nine goals while also providing six assists across all competitions.

The 22-year-old has even been compared to Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp as a result of his creativity and ability to score goals as well.

Arsenal have plenty of strikers to choose from

It is no secret that Mikel Arteta wants a new No.9 at Arsenal.

Ivan Toney has been linked, with TEAMtalk claiming that the Spaniard personally wants the England international at the Emirates Stadium.

According to Calcio Napoli 24, an enquiry has also been made from Arsenal in regards to the availability of Napoli No.9 Victor Osimhen.

Kylian Mbappe has even been linked after informing PSG of his desire to leave this summer when his contract expires.

Therefore – with Zirkzee also on Arsenal’s radar – Arteta and Edu have plenty of attacking options to work through this summer, to say the least.
