According to a report from The Telegraph, Manchester United are pursuing moves for both Cody Gakpo and Antony, in what could be good news for Everton.
The Telegraph reports how United are set to make bids for both the PSV and Ajax wingers at the same time and from there, will decide which one they end up taking on. However, in what is good news for Everton and crucial to this report, it’s claimed United will only be signing one of the pair.
Reports this morning had suggested Everton were keeping an eye on Gakpo with a view to beating a host of clubs to his signature. The likes of Leeds have also watched Gakpo, while Arsenal are also known to admire the winger.

Of course, at around £34m, Gakpo is the cheaper option for Man United than Ajax’s Antony. The Brazilian winger is said to be valued at more than £80m by the Dutch giants.
Naturally, Everton will be hoping that United do indeed pursue Antony and in turn, leave them with a free run at signing Gakpo. The Toffees drew with Nottingham Forest this weekend and Frank Lampard is known to be super keen on adding new faces before the deadline passes.
TBR’s View: Gakpo A Game Changer For Everton
The Toffees have made some nice moves this summer but signing Gakpo would be an icing on the cake type signing really.
The winger really is quality and he’s been labelled as a ‘special‘ talent for his performances with PSV. At £34m, he could even be a bit of a bargain and Everton will be hoping that United follow their recent pattern and blow big money on a different target.
If Everton get Gakpo, then there is a big chance they can really avoid any sort of relegation battle once again.
