Lucas Torreira interested in Roma move; has spoken to Jose Mourinho
Torreira is back as a Gunners player after his loan spell with Fiorentina. For much of his spell, it seemed likely that the Serie A side would look to keep him. However, the asking price could not be agreed upon.
Reports have suggested that Juventus would be interested in the Uruguayan. And it does appear safe to assume that most of the interest in the 26-year-old will come from Italy given the success he has had there.
Perhaps Torreira could end up at Roma. Mourinho has been linked with another Arsenal midfielder for much of his spell in the form of Granit Xhaka. But Torreira has now suggested that he may also be expecting the call from the Giallorossi at some stage in the window.
“I talked to Mourinho a while ago. He’s a coach I admire. It’s a chance that seduces me, but it’s not easy,” he told El Pais.
Torreira interested in joining Roma
Unfortunately, Torreira’s spell in Arsenal just has not worked out as many would have hoped. He was a popular figure throughout his time in the squad at the Emirates. However, Mikel Arteta never seemed to be totally convinced.
He is arguably good enough to force his way into the fold for another chance if he does stick around. But you would imagine that it is more than likely that he will secure a move away before the deadline.
And joining Roma will surely be incredibly exciting. But of course, much will depend on how much they offer.
Arsenal paid £26 million for the midfielder. But reports have claimed that they only want £8.5 million now. That should certainly not be beyond Roma, particularly if Mourinho has gone as far as to speak with Torreira about a move.
