Liverpool transfer news: Report hints Reds want eight-assist 29-year-old from PL rival

A report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb has suggested the news that Liverpool are interested in Pascal Gross, with the 29-year-old apparently ready for a big move in the summer transfer window.

The Reds are surely going to be on the lookout for a new midfielder. Of course, Georginio Wijnaldum is set to move on as his contract expires.

And perhaps, Gross is a player Jurgen Klopp will look at signing.

The German led Brighton’s assist charts in what proved to be a bizarre season for Graham Potter’s side.

They produced a number of outstanding displays over the course of the campaign. But they lacked a ruthless goalscorer to finish off a lot of their chances.

Had they had one, Gross would surely have a lot more assists to his name. As it is, he set up eight goals during the season.

And according to Tuttomercatoweb, his form has put him on Liverpool’s radar.

It must be noted that he has been linked with the Reds in the past. And he went on to describe such interest as an ‘honour’.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, he is ready for a big move. He is also attracting attention from clubs in Serie A.

Gross an underwhelming transfer target amid Liverpool news

Gross turns 30 tomorrow. And his form has dipped at various points throughout his time with the Seagulls.

He would potentially be a low-cost option. Transfermarkt shows that his contract expires next summer. So Brighton may well be open to a sale in this window.

But Liverpool are looking for the kind of signings that are going to take them back into the title picture.

Gross has shown at times that he is a brilliant player. But if the Reds are indeed interested, it would potentially be a brave move to bring him to Anfield in this window.
