Liverpool are reportedly considering a move to sign Jeremy Doku with Voetbal 24 claiming he could be ‘on his way’ to Anfield. The Rennes winger was an excellent part of Belgium’s Euro 2020 side. Speaking about Doku at Euro 2020, Kylian Mbappe praised the reported Liverpool target.

Doku, 19, joined Rennes from Anderlecht in the summer of 2020 after breaking into the senior side with the Belgian outfit. But at Rennes during 20-21, he only scored two goals in 37 games. However, in appearances against Finland and Italy – Doku starred for Belgium at Euro 2020.

Now, Liverpool are keen – following his performances earlier this summer. The Reds could do with another option out wide, as Xherdan Shaqiri looks set to leave – Lyon making an offer. Speaking about Doku after watching him at Euro 2020, Mbappe was full of praise for the Belgian sensation.

“Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, that is (Jérémy) Doku, at Rennes,” Mbappe told France Football – as per GFFN. “In 5 years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power.”

Mbappe comments have got to place Liverpool on red alert

For Doku to earn praise from one of the world’s best players in Mbappe, is a huge thing for the teenage starlet. He deserves the praise, too. His performances at Euro 2020 were excellent – showing everyone his explosive pace. Doku also proved too doubters he has end product, with the pace.

At £38million – as per the report – Doku is expensive. But given he is just 19 and already shining at Euro 2020, a fee below £40million is actually good value. Liverpool will be competing on four fronts again and game time will be aplenty. Mbappe’s comments should convince Liverpool to sign Doku.
