Lyon have made an offer for Liverpool player Xherdan Shaqiri, according to The Athletic. It is claimed, however, that the offer has fallen well short of the club’s £12 million valuation.
Shaqiri has been part of Jurgen Klopp’s pre-season campaign. With a lack of attack-minded additions to the squad, he might have felt capable of making an impact at Anfield this season.
He could, of course, still get that chance. Lyon, Lazio and Napoli are all thought to be keen, however, and could prepare bids.

The Ligue 1 outfit are the latest to test the water. It’s unlikely to be accepted though, with the French outfit attempting to get Shaqiri on the cheap.
Klopp has previously called the Switzerland star ‘really good’ and he is a big fan of the 29-year-old. The boss would dearly like to strengthen though and that would mean some players leaving.
In 63 appearances for Liverpool, Shaqiri has scored eight goals and claimed nine assists, featuring mainly as a backup option.
The £80,000-a-week player is at the age where he needs regular football and it’s fair to say he might not get that at Anfield anymore.
Shaqiri leaving is best for all parties, including Liverpool
The time has come for the Reds to offload Shaqiri and they’re open to doing so. A move to Lyon wouldn’t be a bad move for the player at all.
The French outfit would hand him the chance to play regularly and at his age that’s exactly what he needs right now.

Boss Klopp would dearly love another signing or two before the window closes but players will need to leave in order to do that.
If he could get rid of Shaqiri then it’d be a positive step in the right direction, whilst the player would get the chance to feature regularly for a club once again.
