Liverpool are on the lookout for a new midfielder and could make a move to sign Brighton star, Alexis Mac Allister, according to reports.
Gazzetta dello Sport over in Italy claims that MacAllister is on Liverpool’s list of potential targets as the Reds remain locked in a battle with Real Madrid over Jude Bellingham.
Mac Allister emerged as one of the stars of the World Cup over in Qatar. The Brighton ace played a key role in Argentina winning the tournament and has since attracted admiring glances from a number of clubs, including Arsenal.

90Min have claimed that Brighton could ask for as much as £50m to consider selling Mac Allister. The Seagulls are under no pressure to sell, meaning they hold the aces as it stands.
For Liverpool, Mac Allister is considered an option as the battle for Bellingham goes on. The Reds also look to have missed out on Enzo Fernandez, who could be on his way to Chelsea instead.
Dubbed an ‘incredible‘ midfielder by Adam Lallana, Mac Allister’s stock is higher than ever right now. And with Liverpool showing they’re willing to spend by signing Cody Gakpo, a January deal cannot be ruled out.
TBR’s View: Mac Allister suits Liverpool but he’s no Bellingham
It’s always a good idea to have other targets lined up if you’re a club like Liverpool. But let’s be frank here, Alexis Mac Allister is no Jude Bellingham.
Yes, he might come a bit cheaper but he’s not going to have the impact Bellingham will likely have at Anfield for years to come.
That’s not to say he wouldn’t help or improve this Liverpool side. They need a midfielder and Mac Allister more than showed his worth with Argentina this winter. However, if the end goal is Bellingham and he remains an option, then they have to go all out for the Englishman.
