Report: Leeds making moves to sign 'incredible' £40m midfielder who Newcastle love
Leeds United are being linked with a move for Moroccan midfield sensation, Azzedine Ounahi, according to reports from Italy today.
The impressive Ounahi was one of the stars of the show in the World Cup. His performances helped Morocco into the semi-finals and he caught the eye in more than one game.
And according to AS Roma Live, Leeds are said to be considering a bid for Ounahi in January. It’s suggested the Whites are keen on Ounahi and are moving pieces around in order to try and make an offer work.
Any move from Leeds, of course, would come up against competition. Recent days have seen Ounahi linked with a move to Newcastle United. TalkSPORT’s Ray Parlour also suggested his former club, Arsenal, should consider a move for the Angers ace.
Described as an ‘incredible‘ player by Jose Mourinho, there is a lot to like about Ounahi for those onlooking clubs.
The midfielder, just like his teammate Sofyan Amrabat, impressed massively in Qatar. Angers are open to selling as well, and could look to bring in as much as £40m for their star man.
TBR’s View: Ounahi to Leeds would excite Elland Road
Of all the players in the World Cup who impressed, Azzedine Ounahi is one who really caught the eye every game.
His performances as a number eight were that of a seasoned veteran at times. He was cool on the ball, a creative force, and seemed completely unfazed by the fact he was on the biggest stage.
For Leeds, Ounahi would be an exciting signing. He’d no doubt need time to adjust to the intensity at Elland Road and the way Jesse Marsch plays. But in terms of pure talent, this is a top player who can make a difference.
