90min reported yesterday that West Ham United are among a number of clubs interested in signing Ounahi, who plays his club football in France with Angers.

The outlet claimed that along with the Irons, fellow Premier League sides Leicester City, Newcastle United, Southampton and Wolves are all interested in him, while European giants Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lyon and PSG have already sent scouts to watch him.

Now, one of the best managers in Europe has had his say on Azzedine, and we expect his stock to go up even more in the coming weeks and months.

While speaking about Morocco, Mourinho said, as quoted by Goal: “They have individuals, [Yassine] Bounou was an individual during the competition and in this game was the same, [Sofyan] Amrabat, I know him from Italian football, very good player.

“But their No.8, the young boy that plays in France in Angers, Ounahi was absolutely incredible.”

Ounahi has definitely earned many admirers following his performances at the World Cup.

The 22-year-old started every one of Morocco’s games in Qatar, and he was absolutely incredible. He ran the show from the middle of the park and even though he didn’t score a goal or pick up an assist, he impressed everyone.

West Ham could do with a talented player like Ounahi, who has the potential to become a top midfielder in a few years’ time. However, with Mourinho seriously impressed and a number of top clubs reportedly keen, it will not be easy for the Hammers to lure him in.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Ounahi in the January transfer window.
