Leandro Trossard believes that Arsenal’s squad includes one player who, if he can focus, has the potential to be the best in the world.
Mikel Arteta has been building a competitive squad during his tenure at Arsenal, focusing on the squad’s attacking and defensive aspects.
Arsenal signed multiple players this past summer, with Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke already giving glimpses of the stars they could become.
Meanwhile, Arsenal already have established players, such as Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, who are continuing to grow.
However, Arsenal’s defensive side has been consistently praised by fans and pundits alike, and Trossard believes one person has had a key role in that.

Leandro Trossard believes William Saliba can be the world’s best defender
Arteta has built a strong defensive back line for the Gunners, with the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori developing a strong connection.
However, as Trossard explained to Sky Sports, William Saliba has the potential to become a big star moving forward, as he praised his ability on and off the ball.
“First of all, he’s a great human being. He’s a funny guy. Yeah, on the pitch, I think he’s one of the best in the world at the moment.
“He’s so calm on the ball, but then off the ball, it’s so hard to get past him. He’s strong, he’s quick.
“He has basically everything. He just needs to focus on every single game. And I think then you can be the best in the world in this position.
When asked whether Saliba can go on to become the best center back in the world, Trossard made it clear that he backs his teammate to achieve it.
“Yeah. Yeah. Definitely, if he is actually on it every single game and he pushes himself there. I think he can be. Yeah. He has all the attributes for it.”
Arsenal have secured William Saliba’s future amid Real Madrid interest
Given the high praise that Trossard has put on Saliba, Arsenal fans will be hoping they can see him develop and reach that standard at the Emirates Stadium.
Saliba recently signed a new Arsenal contract, committing his long-term future to the Gunners until 2030.
The new contract will ease Arsenal fans’ fears, as Real Madrid had been showing interest in Saliba due to his impressive performances in the Premier League and Europe.
However, TBR Football revealed that Real Madrid intends to keep monitoring Saliba, regardless of his new deal, showcasing how highly he’s thought of.
