Journalist says Arsenal regret letting Yunus Musah leave in 2019

Yunus Musah was once one of the brightest young talents at Arsenal‘s Hale End academy, but the midfielder rejected a new contract and left the Gunners in 2019.

The American, who has become a star following his fantastic performances at the World Cup, joined Valencia after leaving Arsenal. He could be on the move soon, and the Gunners, who apparently regret losing him, are now monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Journalist says Arsenal regret letting Yunus Musah leave in 2019

Musah spent seven years on Arsenal’s books. He played for all the age groups up until the U18s, for whom he featured 18 times, scored five goals and provided three assists.

Just when Arsenal thought they had a gem coming through, Musah’s agent, Giacomo Guidolin, convinced him to reject the Gunners’ contract offer and move to Spain to join Valencia.

The American agreed and he has progressed really well at the Mestalla. He is a regular for the USMNT as well now, and his performances at the World Cup were absolutely incredible too.

FC Inter News revealed that Arsenal are keen to sign Musah, and journalist O’Rourke has backed that while also revealing that there’s regret among people at London Colney over losing him for nothing in 2019.

He told GiveMeSport: “I’m sure Arsenal do have regrets about losing him when they had him in their youth ranks, but he’s gone to Valencia and become a big player for them and also on the international stage he’s shone.

“I’m sure Arsenal will be continuing to monitor his situation.”

Musah has already opened the door for Gunners return

Even though Musah left Arsenal, it doesn’t look like there are any bad feelings there.

The youngster, branded as a ‘stunning’ footballer, still has fond memories of his time as a Gunner, and he is even open to returning to the Emirates one day if Mikel Arteta makes a move for him.

Musah told CBS Sports before the World Cup: “You never know. I had a great time at Arsenal developing there, I still have friends there, the coaches were great, being an Arsenal player, in general, is great.

“I loved playing for Arsenal. I’ve nothing against the club and if one day it turns out to be that it’s time to go back then it’s possible.”
