Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport that Cameron Carter-Vickers is yet to make a decision on his future, but suggested that the Tottenham Hotspur loanee would rather stay in the Premier League – in news that may alert West Ham.

Carter-Vickers is coming towards the end of what looks set to be a pivotal loan spell with Celtic. He has made 40 appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s men. And the campaign looks set to end with a league title win.

Unsurprisingly, Postecoglou reportedly wants to keep the £10 million-rated man on a permanent basis. But there is plenty of rival interest.

West Ham want Carter-Vickers. Meanwhile, Leicester, Wolves, Watford and Burnley also have the USMNT international on their radar.

Obviously, Celtic look set to be able to offer Champions League football next year. But Jones suggested that the Hoops may well miss out on the defender if he gets his way.

“In terms of Carter-Vickers, the player has not made a decision yet,” he told Give Me Sport.

“It sounds to me like he would rather be in the Premier League if possible, but he needs to see what opportunities genuinely open up.”

Tottenham would surely prefer to sell Cameron Carter-Vickers to Celtic over West Ham

Spurs’ priority when it comes to selling Carter-Vickers will be who makes the best offer. However, they would surely rather see him move to Celtic if identical offers are made.

Tottenham need a centre-back this summer. So it may be the best look if one they sell goes on and thrives in the Premier League – potentially with a West Ham side not far away from Antonio Conte’s men in the table.

Spurs may not feel that he is not quite good enough for them. But he clearly has potential. He has been described as ‘immense‘ while at Parkhead.

So their preference would surely be to sell him to a club in another league.
