Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is happy at the Emirates Stadium and wants to force his way into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

This is according to Charles Watts, who spoke about the Gunners full-back on his YouTube channel.

Cedric joined Arsenal in 2020, initially on loan from Southampton in January.

The 29-year-old then signed permanently on a free transfer in the summer.

However, Cedric struggled for game time under Arteta last season.

He made 24 first-team appearances in all competitions, of which 10 were in the Premier League and just eight were league starts.

And at the end of the season, Soares failed to make the cut for Portugal’s Euro 2020 squad.

“Very, very happy at Arsenal”

The former Saints man has been linked with Turkish giants Fenerbahce in recent days.

However, Watts says Cedric has no intention of leaving Arsenal and is eager to win Arteta over.

“Fenerbahce continue to be linked with Cedric Soares,” said Watts.

“Now obviously, his move to Arsenal hasn’t quite gone to plan.

“I know he has been very impressive this summer since he’s come back and he’s been really, really fit.

“He’s been working really, really hard, and he feels like he’s got an opportunity here.

“From my understanding, Cedric Soares is very, very happy at Arsenal, he’s determined to make a go of it.

“He’s been working really hard in the summer to try and impress Mikel Arteta and force his way into his plans.

“Yes, there is interest from Turkey from Fenerbahce, but Cedric’s preference is absolutely to stay at Arsenal.”
