'Crying', 'can't forgive Arteta for this': Some Arsenal fans react to 'sad' news about player
A number of Arsenal fans have reacted in shock after hearing that Gunners defender Cedric Soares was not included in Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020.
The 29-year-old has struggled for game time under Mikel Arteta this season, clocking up 24 appearances in all competitions, of which just 10 were in the Premier League.
Cedric has largely been deployed as cover at both right-back and left-back this season, but Arteta has opted for other players in those positions later on in the campaign.
The Arsenal boss has used Granit Xhaka at left-back while Kieran Tierney was out injured, while Calum Chambers has been deployed on the right-hand side, with Cedric left on the bench.
And on Thursday, Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020 didn’t feature Cedric, with Fernando Santos opting for Joao Cancelo and Nelson Semedo instead.
It comes as a crushing blow for Cedric, who has 34 caps to his name and was part of the squad that won Euro 2016.
Needless to say, a number of Arsenal fans aren’t pleased with Arteta in wake of the news:
Arteta ruined him.. he was playing chambers that England won’t even flash let alone call

That’s sad for him. He’s definitely better than Semedo. I don’t know how Semedo is always called up, an absolute liability.
