Report: Arsenal defender Cedric Soares wanted by Fenerbahce

Arsenal defender, Cedric Soares, is wanted by Turkish giants Fenerbahce this summer, according to Fotomac.

Cedric became a vital player for Arsenal at the back end of last season, as he filled in at both right and left-back for Mikel Arteta’s side.

With the future of Hector Bellerin uncertain at Arsenal, it is expected that Cedric could once again be important for Arteta. Indeed, reports have even suggested the former Southampton man could be in line to start the season at right-back.

However, he is also in a pool of players who the club could listen to offers for. The Gunners need to ship some faces out this summer, after spending heavily on the likes of Ben White and Albert Lokonga in the window.

Fotomac claim that Cedric is among a group of players that Fenerbahce are looking at bringing to Turkey.

Cedric didn’t get onto the pitch today as Arsenal lost to Chelsea in pre-season at The Emirates. Ben White made his debut, however, and looked very much the part when he came on at half-time.

Arsenal should keep Cedric ahead of other squad players

There’s a number of players in this Arsenal squad who could do with being moved on, but Cedric Soares is one who should be kept.

Not many players can comfortably slot in at both full-back positions. Cedric can do just that, and do it well as well. He also has PL experience under his belt, something any replacement would not likely have.

Of course, every player has their price. But in an inflated squad in need of trimming, Cedric really should be kept at this stage.
