Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto this summer, and Jose Enrique appears to be impressed with the Gunners’ recruitment.

The North Londoners have brought in five new players this summer so far – Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Mikel Arteta is now keen to add at least one more.

Reports first revealed a couple of weeks ago that Arsenal are interested in Neto, who joined Wolves from Serie A side Lazio in 2019.

Those links were backed by several outlets in the following days, including David Ornstein on The Athletic yesterday. The journalist reported that Neto is the Gunners’ top target this summer and Edu is already in discussions with the winger’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a potential deal.

Arsenal have had a really impressive transfer window so far, but with Nicolas Pepe set to leave the club on loan soon, the Gunners need a replacement.

Neto would be a fantastic signing, and Enrique seems impressed as well.

The Liverpool-supporting pundit addressed the reports on his Instagram Stories yesterday with the caption: “Wow Arsenal! If they sign him as well…. Everyone’s spending apart from us.”

Arsenal have started off the season in fantastic style. They are the only team in the Premier League with a 100 per cent record at the moment and are on top of the table as a result.

Arteta’s front-three of Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka have all started the campaign very well, but the Gunners lack options in wide areas if either of their two star wingers gets injured.

Arsenal are right to look for a new wide player and Neto would be an extraordinary signing. The Wolves man knows the Premier League really well, is still only 22 and can play on both flanks.

He would be a great addition to Arsenal’s young squad, but whether Wolves will let him go this summer remains to be seen.
