James Collins says West Ham have a ‘tremendous’ 18-year-old breaking through

James Collins has been raving about young West Ham United forward Divin Mubama ahead of the start of the season.

Collins was talking about the teenager on the Iron Cast Podcast.

West Ham face Bournemouth in three days, but their squad looks far from ready.

Losing Declan Rice to Arsenal is a huge blow but has felt inevitable for some time.

Unfortunately, the club haven’t replaced him yet, despite making efforts to sign several midfielders.

It looks as if Edson Alvarez might be the first new senior arrival of the summer from Ajax.

The Mexican international is a very good player, but more signings are needed, especially with Lucas Paqueta’s future now in doubt.

It means David Moyes might be forced to look towards the academy to solve some of the issues in the squad.

James Collins has backed Divin Mubama to be a fantastic player for West Ham in the future.

The 18-year-old has been around the first team for some time now and already has a senior goal to his name.

He could end up playing a bigger role than first imagined this season.

Collins raves about West Ham youngster Mubama

Asked if Mubama has a big future ahead of him, Collins said: “Yeah tremendous. Just by listening to him you can tell, and I think that’s all the young lads I’ve spoken to at West Ham, he’s just got the right attitude.

“He speaks well, the way he talks about his own game, the way he talks about his teammates, the way he talks about the staff.

“It’s great to hear because you don’t get taught that, it’s sort of embedded in you through West Ham.

“He’s a good lad, he’s a tremendous talent and there’s no doubt he’s going to score a lot of goals for West Ham.”

Mubama has been regularly playing in pre-season and already scored a few goals this summer.

Physically he looks ready to play in the Premier League and Moyes might be running out of centre-forward options this summer.

Gianluca Scamacca has now been sold and Michail Antonio has been linked with a move away from the club.

Collins and West Ham’s fans might be about to see more of Mubama in the coming weeks and months if Scamacca isn’t replaced and Antonio ends up being sold.
