‘It’s the boots’: Tottenham man mocked in training at the World Cup for his shocking passing

Tottenham Hotspur’s squad have returned to training with the Premier League restart quickly approaching.

However, a number of Spurs’ stars are still battling it out to lift the World Cup.

A video from Beanyman Sports has showed some of England’s players training after their win against Senegal.

It was a fantastic performance from Gareth Southgate’s side, who never looked in trouble against the African champions.

Jordan Henderson and Harry Kane scored their first goals of the tournament before Bukayo Saka sealed the victory.

Southgate has been rotated several of his attacking players, but kept his defensive line-up almost identical throughout the tournament.

John Stones and Harry Maguire have impressed at centre-back, limiting opportunities for Eric Dier and Conor Coady.

Dier was among the players training this morning, and was mocked by the rest of his squad for his passing.

After being praised by Phil Foden for his technical ability, it’s not a moment he’s going to want to see again.

Dier mocked for his passing in England training drill

The video shows England’s players taking part in a rondo drill.

Dier is on the outside of the circle and receives a pass from Kalvin Phillips.

The Tottenham defender tries to play a one-two with the Man City midfielder who’s less than a yard away.

However, he completely messes up his touch, and the ball is intercepted by Conor Gallagher.

The whole squad burst into laughter, with James Maddison pointing at his bright pick boots.

Someone in the background can be heard shouting, ‘it’s the boots!’ before Mason Mount makes the same mistake wearing an identical pair.

The entire group is in fits of laughter at this point before the drill continues.

It’s an uncharacteristic mistake from Dier, who didn’t seem to mind being mocked for his passing.

Dier has been brought on twice by Southgate in Qatar, and seems to be his favoured option off the bench to shore things up.

Working alongside the likes of Jack Grealish in training is going to improve his defending as the tournament goes on.

He’ll be hoping to feature again on Saturday, potentially to protect a lead against the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann.
