‘It’s crazy’: Declan Rice says one West Ham United teammate has amazed him with what he can do in training

West Ham United fans will be over the moon to see Gianluca Scamacca score his first Premier League goal.

The Italian forward rifled his shot into the top corner, helping the Hammers defeat Wolves 2-0 at the London Stadium.

Declan Rice spoke to the West Ham’s official website after the match.

Rice shared that Scamacca is one of the best strikers of a ball he’s ever seen in training.

Scamacca had only started one Premier League match before yesterday, and was yet to open his account in the league.

He had scored in three of his four European appearances for West Ham, but will be glad to finally break his Premier League duck.

Manager David Moyes revealed before the game that Scamacca had been struggling with a virus for several weeks.

However, he looks to be fully recovered judging by his performance yesterday.

Scamacca impresses Rice in training

Speaking after the game on the Italian striker, Rice said: “Gianluca’s (Scamacca) got one of the best strikes of a ball I’ve ever seen in training. It’s crazy.

“So, when that hit his foot, and just went into the top corner there was no surprise there.”

Declan Rice isn’t the only West Ham player who’s been impressed by Scamacca on the training ground.

His fellow striking partner Michail Antonio said he looked ‘quality’ shortly after joining the club.

And despite not playing him straight away, Moyes ‘liked what he saw’ from the Italian when he arrived from Sassuolo.

The 23-year-old will have to share minutes with Antonio as Moyes tends to only play with one striker.

It’s up the two of them to battle it out to make the starting position their own.

If Scamacca continues to score spectacular goals, then Antonio might have to get used to be patient on the bench.
