'Interesting one': Tottenham Hotspur still undecided over 19-year-old, Conte's watching him closely in training – reporter

Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make a decision on whether Pape Matar Sarr will leave the club this summer.

The 19-year-old’s immediate future was discussed by Lyall Thomas on the Last Word on Spurs podcast.

When asked whether Sarr would go out on loan, Thomas said: “That’s an interesting one. Potentially.

“I’ve not had any concrete information on whether Spurs have made a decision on that yet, so that suggests to me that they’re still looking at him in training and like some of the stuff they’ve seen in training and pre-season.

“And actually, they might think it could be better for him to stay and continue to develop under Conte this season, or for the next four months until we get to January.

“He’s still new to the Conte fold and it might make more sense for him to learn more from being with Conte for the next few months.

“I haven’t heard that he’s definitely available for we’ll see in the next week if they’ll let him go.”

Tottenham yet to make Sarr decision

Tottenham fans have yet to see Sarr in competitive action for the club since being signed from FC Metz last summer.

The 19-year-old already has plenty of experience for someone his age.

He was sent back out on loan to his former club last season, and played more than 2,000 league minutes.

This is even more impressive considering he had a break in his club season to go to the African Cup of Nations, which he won with Senegal.

The central midfielder is already considered a ‘really good prospect’ by Conte.

Playing with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma in training every day, under the tutelage of Conte, could be very beneficial to Sarr.

But his game time is likely to be very limited if he stays at Tottenham, and considering how much first team football he’s already played in his career, that feels like a step backwards.

He’s also likely to be behind homegrown midfielder Oliver Skipp in the pecking order, who is now very close to a return from injury.

Previous reports suggest Paratici is already working on a loan solution for Sarr, and it would be no surprise if he made another temporary move.

He’s been given plenty of time to prove his credential to Conte this summer, and may not be far away from being a first-team option at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
