Antonio Conte has got some ‘really good news’ to share with Tottenham Hotspur fans about Oliver Skipp.

Journalist Charlie Eccleshare has shared an update that Conte has given on the fitness of Skipp.

The 21-year-old was ruled out of the opening Premier League games due to suffering a foot injury in training.

The ‘freak injury’ apparently left Tottenham players shaken and the youngster had to have stitches in his foot.

But speaking in a press conference today ahead of the Wolves game on Saturday, Conte has delivered some good news for fans.

Conte has good news to share with Tottenham fans

“He’s not available but good news because today or tomorrow he will run again,” Conte said.

“This is really good news. I hope this player to be a bit more lucky because since January he started to have a problem.

“But hopefully he will be ready quickly.” as transcribed by the Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare.

Skipp has certainly been unlucky in terms of injuries since Conte took over as Spurs boss last November.

The Tottenham academy product was a mainstay in the Italian’s side last season until he was ruled out for the rest of the campaign from February onwards.

Skipp was reportedly ‘absolutely flying’ during pre-season training and was in the top two fittest players in the entire Spurs squad.

But his progress was halted by the injury and now the youngster will have to play catch-up to break back into the side.

He now faces stiff competition for a place in Conte’s starting eleven, with Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur both joining after he suffered his injury last season.

But Conte is clearly a big fan of the player and will be hoping the youngster can avoid any further injuries. With Skipp likely to be back on his feet again over the weekend, the Italian should have another option to choose from in the centre of midfield soon.
