'Inspiration': £86m player Arsenal reportedly bid for this summer now says Tottenham's Harry Kane is his idol
Last month, it was claimed that Arsenal had tabled a bid for Osimhen worth around £51.2 million but Napoli had put an £86 million price tag on the striker.
But of course, the Gunners went on to sign Jesus and now Osimhen has told Corriere dello Sport that he idolises Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
The Nigerian international looks likely to stay at Napoli this summer and Arsenal fans may be grateful as the striker has expressed his admiration for their bitter rivals’ main man.
Harry Kane is Osimhen’s ‘inspiration’
Fabrizio Romano posted the 23-year-old’s quotes on his future after being linked with a move to the Premier League.
The Nigerian international is clearly content at De Laurentiis and it doesn’t seem like he’ll be making the switch to England anytime soon.
Osimhen joined Napoli back in the summer of 2020 from LOSC Lille and has been excellent for the Serie A side over the past two seasons.
The striker netted 14 times and provided five assists in the Italian league last season, despite only playing 24 games in the campaign.
The powerful forward is regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe and at just 23, he will only keep improving.
Kane and Drogba are not exactly the worst players to idolise either and if he bases his game off the pair, he could become a formidable striker.
It was reported last summer that Osimhen could have replaced Harry Kane at Spurs if the Englishman moved on after links to Manchester City.
But of course, Kane has stayed in North London and seems to be happy under Tottenham boss Antonio Conte.
As for Arsenal fans, they will be more than happy with the addition of Jesus as their new striker and probably won’t be too bothered about not signing Osimhen, especially after his comments on Kane.
