Report: Tottenham eye £45m man as Harry Kane replacement
Tottenham have reportedly placed Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, on their list of potential replacements for wantaway striker Harry Kane.
Kane is said to be open to the idea of leaving Spurs this summer. However, the club are also keen to keep him, and are said to be diggin their heels over a mammoth £150m fee.
That figure could lead to the likes of Manchester City walking away from a deal.
But Tottenham do seem to be making contingency plans. And one of those plans is current Napoli striker Osimhen. The Nigerian speedster only moved to Naples in the summer window last year. He completed a reported £45m deal back then, although some outlets did claim the fee was even higher.
Osimhen had a slow start to life in Serie A but did finish the season with ten goals from his 24 league games. Gazetta dello Sport now claim that the Nigerian is on Spurs’ list of potential Kane replacements.
However, it’s also suggested that Napoli have no intention of selling their striker. Instead, they plan on inserting a new clause into his contract, with an £86m clause mentioned.
Osimhen got his move to Napoli after showing explosive form for Lille the season before. The forward scored 18 times in 38 games in Ligue 1.
Tottenham preparing for Kane’s exit? Unlikely, but Osimhen a good talent
Replacing Harry Kane will be almost impossible. Spurs will just need to do their best and bring in players who can fill the void. Realistically, there isn’t a replacement out there.
Osimhen won’t replace Kane if he did sign. He’d bring pace, a threat up top, and his own style. But replace Kane? Not a chance.
The other issue is Napoli won’t be selling any time soon. And if they did, it would be for enormous money. For now, this one can probably be put on the back burner for Tottenham fans.
