TalkSport pundit Jason Cundy has urged Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United and join Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The Englishman has had a torrid time at Old Trafford this season. Injuries have been cruel to him but even when he has played, he hasn’t really been the best version of himself.

In his 24 games in all competitions, Rashford has scored just five goals, one of which came in the Champions League. That is not a good return at all and it is among the reasons why he has started just two games in the Premier League in 2022.

Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Rashford is considering his options ahead of the summer window, while 90min claimed that Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in him. Cundy has now urged him to join the Gunners.

Cundy said on TalkSport yesterday: “Clearly he’s had a very difficult last seven or eight months, he’s had a tough time. I do feel he might have to move on.

“It doesn’t help that right now he’s at a club where Manchester United are not going anywhere fast. There have been managerial changes and it’s not been a happy time at United this season.

“Would he go to Arsenal? Can you imagine what Mikel Arteta would do with him? Imagine him at Arsenal right now. Why couldn’t he go there?

“Sometimes players just have to move on, they’ve got to find a new, fresh start. Rashford is Man United through and through? So was Danny Welbeck and he had to move on (to Arsenal) eventually.”

Irrespective of what has happened this season, Marcus Rashford is an unbelievable footballer and if he decides to leave in the summer, plenty of clubs will line up to sign him.

However, should Arsenal be one of them?

The Gunners really do need a new striker this summer, they may even need two. Rashford has proven his class in the Premier League up front, but Mikel Arteta prefers his strikers to drop deep and link play up. That’s completely against the Manchester United man’s strengths.

Rashford, labelled as ‘exceptional’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, could also play out wide, but based on current form and future potential, does he really start ahead of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli or Emile Smith Rowe? We don’t think so!
