Eric Dier scored an absolute stunner for Tottenham Hotspur against Team K-League yesterday, and Son Heung-min has claimed that South Korean Spurs fans actually love the Englishman more than him.
Spurs kicked off their pre-season tour with a fine victory at the Seoul World Cup Stadium yesterday. Dier opened the scoring in the 30th minute before an own goal and braces from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min took the score up to six.
Tottenham did concede three goals though, which is a shame, but fans at the stadium, who got to watch their favourite stars, will not care one bit.
Son was definitely the man everybody came to watch yesterday, but it’s Dier’s stunning goal that will be etched in the memory of all the supporters in the stadium for a long, long time.
Heung-min Son says South Korean Tottenham fans actually love Eric Dier more than him
After the win in Seoul yesterday, Son spoke to Spurs TV and answered a number of questions. One of them was about Dier’s stunner, and the South Korean went as far as saying that fans of his country actually love the 28-year-old defender more than they love him.
Son said: “Oh my God! Oh my God! Let’s talk about it. Eric Dier turns up like Harry Kane, left-foot!
“I really liked it and Eric deserved it. He played really, really good. (In the) first half especially, he was the captain and he led the team really well. I’m very happy for him.
“The Korean fans love him. After that video (the one on the final day of last season), probably they love him more than me. I’m a little bit jealous!”
“I’m really happy for him!”

TBR View:
We all know Dier is capable of the spectacular from distance, but not many would’ve expected him to score a stunner with his weaker foot as he did yesterday.
Fans in the Seoul World Cup Stadium went crazy as the ball hit the back of the net, and going by his comments, it looks like Son was blown away too.
Tottenham take on Sevilla next in their pre-season and fans in South Korea, irrespective of their love and support for Dier, would want nothing more than for Son to start.
That game will certainly be a bigger test for Spurs, but if Son is at his best, he will likely score a couple of goals again.
