'He's waiting for Tottenham': Romano claims Spurs have 4th summer signing in mind after Bissouma

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Djed Spence is “waiting” to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Spurs have been heavily linked with the Middlesbrough full-back in recent days.

Last week, there were reports claiming Tottenham had actually struck a deal for Spence.

Although those reports proved somewhat premature, it looks as though discussions are still going well.

At present, Spurs are reportedly closing in on Brighton’s Yves Bissouma.

According to Romano, the two clubs are apparently discussing the final details of the payment terms.

He suggested Bissouma to Tottenham is all-but done, before commenting on Spurs’ pursuit of Spence.

“Bissouma will be the third signing of Tottenham’s summer and a really, really interesting one,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“They are showing their ambition to Antonio Conte, waiting for more signings to come.

“Let’s remind that Djed Spence from Middlesbrough is a serious possibility they are considering.

“But there’s still no official bid, so the player is waiting.

“He’s of course waiting for Tottenham as a big possibility to play Champions League football after a fantastic season with Nottingham Forest.”

Tottenham seemingly closing in on “unbelievable” talent

Spence is a top talent and a player who could become a star for Tottenham if he joins.

The 21-year-old announced himself to a nationwide audience earlier this year when he helped knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup.

Ian Wright labelled his display against the Gunners “unbelievable“.

Meanwhile, Michael Bridge told Last Word on Spurs: “Spence was incredible against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

“But Spurs have been looking at Spence for a lot longer than that.”

Spence looked a cut above in the Championship last term, helping Forest return to the Premier League after 23 years.
