Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has been speaking to the club’s official website and has revealed Romelu Lukaku helped to convince him to join the club this summer.
The ‘perfect’ Onana completed a switch from LOSC Lille this summer as Frank Lampard bolstered his midfield options.
The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to West Ham United but instead made the switch to Goodison Park.
Reports had suggested that Lukaku had played a role in convincing Onana to join Everton this summer.
And now Onana has confirmed that he spoke to Lukaku before sealing his move to Merseyside.

Lukaku helped convince Onana to join Everton
“There was a lot of respect for this club from everyone I spoke to,” he said.
“I know about the history of Everton — I knew before coming it’s a big, big club.
“Those guys have been successful and why can’t I continue that?
“My first memories of watching Everton are back in Senegal, because I watched a lot of Premier League games as a kid.
“[Marouane] Fellaini was here back then. He was a very, very good player who did a lot for Everton and my goal has to be to do as much as him, or even better.
“I spoke to Romelu [Lukaku], too. He told me that I’d feel at home because it’s like a big family. That is exactly what I have found.
“He knew I would enjoy it here and there wasn’t a doubt in his mind. I was like, ‘Aight, let’s do this, big bro!’”

Lukaku enjoyed a successful spell at Goodison Park where he scored 87 goals in 166 appearances for the club.
And the Belgian striker clearly played a role in convincing his compatriot Onana to make the switch this summer.
Onana has got off to a decent start to his Everton career and Lampard is clearly a big fan of the player.
It’s great to see Lukaku still thinks so highly of Everton after such a brilliant spell there.
