'Here we go': Fabrizio Romano confirms Everton have 'full agreement' to sign Amadou Onana

Everton are close to signing Amadou Onana from Lille as Frank Lampard appears to have beaten West Ham to the midfielder’s signature.

The Belgian international is set to sign for the Toffees in a deal that could be worth more than £30m. Everton’s move for Onana comes just days after it looked like he was set to sign for David Moyes with West Ham. For Frank Lampard, of course, it’s a major boost to see Onana choose the Toffees over the Hammers.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal for Onana is all but done, with the famed journalist giving the deal his ‘Here We Go’.

Onana has impressed with his performances for Lille in recent times and is now seen by Belgium boss Roberto Martinez as a key squad player. Naturally, there will be assumptions that Martinez – with his Everton links – might even have put a word in for the club to Onana.

Everton are looking to build from last year when they narrowly avoided relegation. The big money sale of Richarlison has at least given Frank Lampard some money to spend, with the Toffees already signing Dwight McNeil from Burnley.

The signing of Onana will go down well with Everton fans, who have been keen to see new players. There is still talk of a takeover going through, too, which could impact future incomings further.

TBR’s View: Onana Choosing Everton Is Huge For Lampard

This is a massive plus for Everton and Lampard. Not only are they getting a player who has undoubted quality, but it shows that the club can still be a lure for players, despite last season’s struggles.

Onana will add quality and power to Everton’s midfield and Lampard will be delighted. For West Ham, it is yet another blow as their summer of frustration seems to continue.

The Premier League season gets underway this weekend with Everton taking on Chelsea. It remains to be seen whether details for Onana to play in that game have been sorted or not.
