‘He doesn’t know what to do with himself’: Emi Martinez reacts to what he’s seen from Arsenal star this season

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is a big fan of Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale and his celebrations.

The Argentine was a Gunner for about a decade but he only got his chance at the very end of his career there. He stepped up brilliantly and helped Arsenal win the FA Cup and Community Shield in Mikel Arteta’s first year at the club.

Martinez than wanted to be Arsenal’s undisputed number one but Bernd Leno was preferred over him. That led to his departure and he has been absolutely brilliant for Aston Villa since he joined them at the start of last season.

After Leno’s struggles last year and Runar Alex Runarsson proving to be a really poor signing, Arsenal finally replaced Martinez by splashing big money on Ramsdale. He has been fantastic.

Emi Martinez reacts to how Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale celebrates

Martinez sat down for an interview with Ben Foster on Amazon Prime Video’s YouTube channel and the latter claimed that he loved how Ramsdale celebrates every time Arsenal score.

The Argentine agreed with Foster and claimed that Ramsdale ‘doesn’t know what to do with himself’ at times, which is absolutely brilliant to watch.

Speaking about Ramsdale, Martinez said: “I know what he’s been through. He played in League One, League Two, Championship relegated from the Premier League. He has been through a lot.

“Now, he’s winning every game and fighting for (a place in the) Champions League.

“He doesn’t know what to do with himself (while celebrating), he’s sliding, jumping in the air, you know. He deserves it!”

Arsenal fans have given Mikel Arteta, Edu and the club a lot of grief about how they sold Martinez in 2020. Now, thanks to Ramsdale’s arrival, everyone has forgotten about the Argentine.

Ramsdale has been absolutely incredible for the Gunners. He has saved them on countless occasions already this season and his distribution is up there with the very best goalkeepers in the world now.

The Englishman’s celebrations are a joy to watch for Arsenal fans. There are times when the goalkeeper celebrates harder than the player who has scored the goal, and that really has helped lift the mood around the Emirates.

Ramsdale has well and truly replaced Martinez at Arsenal and the 24-year-old will be key for the Gunners as they push for a finish in the top four.
