RB Leipzig are aware that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign Xavi Simons.
That is according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, who has reported on the current situation of Simons.
So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Xavi Simons? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal linked with Xavi Simons
Well, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Arsenal are interested in signing former Barcelona prospect Xavi Simons.
Simons is on loan at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain at the moment.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder came through the Barcelona youth system before moving to PSG in 2019.
In 2022, PSV signed Simons, who went back to PSG in the summer of 2023 after the reigning French champions triggered a buy-buy clause.
Immediately after moving back to PSG, Simons left on loan for RB Leipzig where he has done well.
The Netherlands international, who can also play as a winger, has scored four goals and given seven assists in 17 Bundesliga matches.

Simons has also scored two goals and given two assists in five starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for Leipzig this season.
German journalist Falk has reported that Bayern Munich are interested in Simons and so are Arsenal.
Leipzig themselves want to keep the youngster for another season, The German club are aware that Arsenal want their playmaker, who is rated highly by Ronald Koeman.
Falk told CaughtOffSide: “Florian Wirtz will be the No.1 option for Bayern Munich. At the moment, it seems he will stay until 2025 when Leverkusen should go into the Champions League. The other thing that may have an impact on Wirtz is whether or not Xabi Alonso is staying as manager. These are the two main things.
“That’s why Bayern Munich are surely watching other players and everyone sees what Xavi Simons is doing at RB Leipzig. But Leipzig themselves are pushing to get him for one more year on a loan deal, until 2025. This is the first thing which has to be decided. Bayern have him on the list, but I think for this summer, they have many players on the list for this position and Simons will be particularly expensive if PSG would be prepared to sell him.
“So I think there will be other clubs that also knock on the door; Leipzig have heard of Bayern’s interest and interest from Arsenal. This could be one of the clubs. There are also rumours of Barcelona – but they have no money! Rumours of Inter Milan… I also think this wouldn’t be a No.1 option.”
My View: Arsenal should continue to monitor Xavi Simons
Xavi Simons is one of the best young attacking midfielders in Europe and is rated very highly. I am not surprised at all that Arsenal are keen on him.
A January transfer is not going to happen, but Arsenal should not give up on signing Simons in the summer of 2024.
It is not going to be easy, though. Paris Saint-Germain themselves may not be willing to sell Simons and could ask for a lot of money in transfer fees. Bayern Munich could outbid Arsenal for the former PSV star.
