Graham Roberts comments on reports that Tottenham could strike £40m deal
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on luring Adama Traore to North London from Wolves – and Graham Roberts has given his verdict.
Traore, of course, played under Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves. During the 2019-20 season, Traore produced 18 goal involvements under Nuno.
But last season, he struggled – as did Wolves. Bruno Lage has given his verdict, the Wolves gaffer expecting to keep Traore beyond the deadline.
Posting his verdict on Twitter, Tottenham legend Roberts had his say. The Spurs icon thinks he is a good signing, despite his lack of end product.
Traore to Tottenham: Roberts gets it bang on with Twitter verdict
Many pundits and supporters can get hung up purely on goals and assists. But if that was the case, Jack Grealish would not be a £100million player.
Last season, Grealish scored six goals and laid on 12 assists. While that is a good return, it is hardly jumping off the page. Certainly, not £100million.
But the reason he is the most-expensive player in British history, is he draws fouls, creates space for others. His goals and assists are secondary.
With Traore, it is similar. While he did not score or create many last season, it is his ability to drive a team up the pitch and into the final third.
Tottenham are looking to play attacking football, but on the counter. £43k-a-week (Spotrac) Traore is perfect. He suits Nuno’s Tottenham to a tee.
