Manager reacts when asked if Tottenham could sign his 25-year-old winger
Tottenham are reportedly in talks with Wolves over the signing of Adama Traore. But, asked about Traore and his future, Bruno Lage says he expects his winger to remain at Wolves despite interest from Tottenham. A potential blow for Tottenham, in their pursuit of £43,000-a-week (Spotrac) Traore.
It has been widely reported that Tottenham are in talks to sign Traore, who is said to have a £40million price tag – as per The Telegraph. Another report from 90Min shares Traore’s stance, making it apparent that he is desperate to join Tottenham. But there is less than a week before the deadline.
Traore was a substitute on Tuesday evening as new Wolves gaffer Lage got his first win as manager. He was asked after the match if Traore will remain a Wolves player beyond the deadline – and he gave a four-word response to the question – as per the Express & Star: “Yeah, I think so”.
Traore to Tottenham: Wolves boss Lage comments a blow?
It is a blow. The manager is clearly intent on keeping Traore at Wolves and given he is new – the Wolves board are more likely to want to back him. The Midlands club are hardly crying out for cash. The one positive for Spurs is that clearly, Traore wants to join Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham.
While Wolves will want to keep Traore, if the player himself pushes for a move – certain that it will result in a transfer – then that could force a deal. Of course, if Tottenham are willing to match the price tag of Wolves – then a deal could go through. We all know how Daniel Levy works, though.
