Gabriel Magalhaes says Mikel Arteta hardly ever starts Arsenal’s hardest-working player

Gabriel Magalhaes has been full of praise for one Arsenal player Mikel Arteta hardly starts anymore.

The North Londoners had a productive summer transfer window, which included the signing of Eberechi Eze.

Mikel Arteta, in Martin Odegaard’s absence, now prefers an attacking midfield trio of Bukayo Saka, Eze and Leandro Trossard.

Trossard has started the Gunners’ last five Premier League matches, with Gabriel Martinelli often demoted to the bench despite his work ethic in training.

Gabriel Magalhaes praises Gabriel Martinelli

Speaking to Sky Sports recently, Gabriel Magalhaes was full of praise for his Brazilian counterpart.

Asked who the hardest working Arsenal player is in training, the centre-back responded: “I’m going to say Martinelli, this guy is a machine.”

His absence from the starting line-up in recent weeks comes despite Trossard drawing the ire of fans with his performances.

TBR Football has previously revealed that Arsenal are open to selling the Belgian, along with Gabriel Jesus.

For the time being, though, he is expected to remain a regular starter ahead of Martinelli, who is now injured.

Gabriel Martinelli to miss Burnley vs Arsenal

Martinelli missed the Brighton win earlier this week with a knock.

Arteta has since provided a fresh update on the Arsenal forward and William Saliba in his pre-Burnley press conference.

The South American will miss the tie, while Saliba has a chance to feature.

He said: “[Gabriel] Martinelli is still out. [William] Saliba we will have to wait and see because we have another training session this afternoon. The rest are getting closer but not available yet.”

On a potential timeline for Martinelli’s return, Arteta added: “We aren’t sure yet, but I think this game will come too soon.”
