Arsenal have been preparing themselves at London Colney for the game against Aston Villa tonight, and it looks like young Marquinhos has really impressed Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners signed the 19-year-old from Sao Paulo earlier this summer, but he’s yet to make his debut. However, if Jesus’ Instagram comment is anything to go by, it’s only a matter of time before he gets the nod.

Arsenal have started the new season in spectacular fashion. They’ve won each of the four games they’ve played this term, and they could make it five in five when they host Aston Villa later today.

Mikel Arteta, however, has a lot of problems to deal with ahead of the game tonight.

Injuries to key players in midfield has left the Gunners short of options, while Nicolas Pepe’s departure means Arsenal no longer have a senior right-winger apart from Bukayo Saka.

We don’t know what Arteta will do in the middle of the park, but Marquinhos could be the man who will take Pepe’s place on the bench for the second game running tonight after being involved in training yesterday.

The young Brazilian posted pictures of himself from London Colney on Instagram ahead of the game against Villa. He looked like he was celebrating something in the photos, but it’s Jesus’ comment that caught our eye.

The Arsenal number nine wrote under Marquinhos’ post: “What a player!”

We have entered the final 48 hours of the transfer window and Arsenal are on the market for a new wide player.

Wolves’ Pedro Neto is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s top target, while Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhylo Mudryk is also said to be on the Arsenal boss’ wish list.

However, with so little time left in the window, Arsenal could end up without a new winger. That would be a shame, but it would open the door for Marquinhos to come in and show the world what he’s all about in Arsenal’s colours.

Jesus certainly seems impressed by Marquinhos, and if things go to plan, they could form a dangerous partnership together for the Gunners and Brazil in the coming years.
