Fulham chairman gives Marco Silva update as Nottingham Forest consider change

Nottingham Forest are already considering a change in the dugout despite hiring Ange Postecoglou as recently as September 9th.

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – believes Evangelos Marinakis is a huge admirer of Marco Silva after the Portuguese coach won Olympiacos the 2015/16 Greek Super League title.

With Ange Postecoglou still searching for his first win in charge of Nottingham Forest after seven attempts, Shahid Khan – chairman of Fulham – has now offered an update on Marco Silva.

Fulham expect Marco Silva to be part of “long-term plans” at Craven Cottage

The 75-year-old spoke to talkSPORT about life at Fulham, where he revealed that the Cottagers see the man born in Lisbon as a key part of their future.

Khan said: “He’s been great. I really like him not only as a person (but) as a football manager, head coach. I definitely think he’s in our long-term plans.”

Silva certainly seems settled at Fulham – having held the position since July 2021 – but there is a decision to make.

The 48-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season, so if a reunion with Marinakis does appeal to him, it could be quite a simple appointment for Nottingham Forest to pull off.

It is no wonder Marinakis – who is worried about Postecoglou – is thinking about reuniting with Silva, as the Fulham boss did special things in Greece.

He won 38 of his 48 games in charge of Olympiacos, remarkably coaching 119 goals out of his side in those matches and suffering just seven defeats in total.

Silva even began that 2015/16 title success by winning 17 Greek Super League games in a row at the start of the season – eventually winning 28 out of 30 games.

Khan sounds confident he can keep the Marinakis favourite in west London beyond July 2026, but if Postecoglou fails to improve the situation at Nottingham Forest, a move could well happen.
