Insider reveals who he thinks Nottingham Forest’s next manager is and it’s not Sean Dyche

The future of Ange Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest is still uncertain, after a difficult start to his career at the City Ground.

The former Tottenham head coach took the job in early September, just three months on from his exit in North London.

A tough start has seen Ange Postecoglou without a win so far, with some frustrating results against the likes of Sunderland, Burnley and FC Midtjylland.

That has put his role at threat, with uncertainty surrounding his future.

Evangelos Marinakis is considering Postecoglou’s future, with several options available to replace him in the Nottingham Forest hotseat.

While Sean Dyche has been linked with the Forest job, there are some other names appearing around the position.

Marco Silva backed to be the next Nottingham Forest manager

While Sean Dyche has appeared as a name on Nottingham Forest’s radar as the next manager, there are some reservations over whether he would be the right fit.

The move would see Forest return to a more counter-attacking style of play, while his last job at Everton came with mixed reviews.

Other options may come with a little more excitement for the City Ground faithful, including one current Premier League manager who could be on their radar.

Graeme Bailey discussed possible appointments on the Beyond The Back Four podcast, with particular reference to Fulham boss Marco Silva.

He said: “I’ve got an inkling. I think Marinakis will turn to another manager who he’s very close to. And there’s a manager in the Premier League who had a record-breaking season for Marinakis at Olympiacos.

“Marco Silva at Fulham. Look back to the record. He had I think he won his first 17 games in charge of Olympiacos, and then he left after winning the title.

“But keep an eye on Marco Silva and Nottingham Forest. I know Sean Dyche has been linked, but going back to the sack race, I do think Ange [Postecoglou] will be lucky to see the next international break.”

It would be quite an interesting move for Nottingham Forest, poaching a manager from their Premier League rivals.

Silva has plenty of experience in the Premier League, while he hasn’t quite had a shot in Europe with any of those English sides.

He may finally get that in a move to the City Ground, but it remains to be seen just how possible that is.

Marco Silva’s record under Evangelos Marinakis

In quite a short amount of time, Marco Silva made an impact under Evangelos Marinakis when the pair partnered up at Olympiacos.

The Portuguese boss took charge of just one season before moving to Hull City, with an impressive run of form leading them to a historic title.

It could’ve been even sweeter if it were not for a defeat in the final of the Greek Football Cup to AEK Athens.

That ended up being Silva’s last game for the club before his journey in the Premier League began.

Spells with Hull, Everton and now Fulham have him cemented as a recognised face in the division, and now a move to Nottingham Forest could add a fourth English club to the list.
