Gary Lineker has given his verdict on Arsenal target Ollie Watkins.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker has outlined what makes the Aston Villa star special.
So, what has Gary Lineker said about Arsenal target and Aston Villa target Ollie Watkins? Let’s take a look.
Arsenal target Ollie Watkins has ‘a fantastic work ethic’
Well, Gary Lineker has been impressed with Ollie Watkins. The Aston Villa striker has been playing well this season and has been linked with Arsenal.
Journalist Chris Wheatley said on ShotsTV in late October 2023 that Watkins is among the strikers Arsenal are looking to sign.
The reporter noted that Arsenal, who are aiming to win the Premier League title this season, “like” Watkins, adding that the Gunners are keen on Brentford star Ivan Toney as well.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and England international striker Gary Lineker rates Watkins highly and has noted the work ethic of the £28 million (BBC Sport) Villa star, a player David Seaman also likes.

Watkins scored for Villa against Brentford in the Premier League this past weekend. The 27-year-old England international striker has scored nine goals and given six assists in 17 league matches this season. He scored 15 goals and provided six assists in the league in 2022-23.
Lineker said about Watkins on The Rest is Football podcast: “The way he is going, he is playing himself very much into the England squad in the summer.
“That’s nine goals, nine assists this season. He has got a fantastic work ethic and energy when he plays as well.”
Arsenal should keep tabs on Ollie Watkins
I do not think that Arsenal will be able to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in the January transfer window.
After all, Villa appear to be in the race for the Premier League title this season, and manager Unai Emery is certainly going to sell one of his best and most important players to his former club Arsenal.
In my view, Arsenal should continue to keep tabs on Watkins and perhaps try to sign him in the summer of 2024.
Yes, he put pen to paper on a new deal in October and Villa could end up in the Premier League top four this season, but you just never know.
