Nuno Espirito Santo has become the first managerial casualty of the Premier League season.

Nottingham Forest have taken four points from their first three games, but after falling out with Evangelos Marinakis, the writing was on the wall for the Portuguese gaffer.

Now, Forest need to find a replacement for Nuno, and, inevitably, one name that has cropped up is Jose Mourinho, while Ange Postecoglou is another option.

Mourinho is out of work after leaving Fenerbahce, and with Nottingham Forest having historical links to Jorge Mendes, this could add up to make a lot of sense.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Mourinho’s plans in the wake of this news.

Romano shared what he knows about Mourinho after the Nottingham Forest job became available.

According to the journalist, Mourinho is keen to get back into a job as soon as possible.

The former Chelsea boss isn’t said to be desperate to work, but he would jump back into work if the right project came up.

“Many questions on Jose Mourinho guys what I can tell you Jose Mourinho is that Jose is very open to returning to work as soon as possible after saying goodbye to Fenerbahce but has to be the right project for him Mourinho is not desperate to get a new job,” Romano said.

“Mourinho is very relaxed on his position in the sense that he wants to return as soon as possible he’s really angry he’s really ready.

“But Jose Mourinho is not going everywhere just because he wants to be back as soon as possible. So it has to be the right project, the right vision.

“I’m getting many questions on Nottingham Forest tonight but I will only report on that if I have something concrete on this story at this stage is very early and again Jose Mourinho is not kind of person who signs in 5 minutes.

“He wants to make sure that the project is right that this is the right step for his career. There are several things to clarify before saying okay Jose Mourinho is going to that club.

“For sure he’s open to returning as soon as possible. For sure Jose doesn’t want to be sitting on the sofa at home for a long time. So for sure the decision is quite clear. He wants to return as soon as possible. But has to be the right opportunity. Let’s see what’s going to happen with Nottingham Forest.”

Mourinho to Forest sounds like a crazy move for such a high-profile manager and a club that was in the Championship just a few years ago.

However, Forest are now a Europa League outfit, while there’s one key tie that could bring Mourinho to the City Ground.

Indeed, Nottingham Forest have close ties with Jorge Mendes.

Mendes has been key in guiding Mourinho’s career, and who knows? Perhaps his next chapter could be in Nottingham.
