With Friday’s transfer deadline fast approaching, both Arsenal and Chelsea are still being linked with a blockbuster move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
It’s well documented by this point that Osimhen is free to leave the Italian side, Antonio Conte has already replaced the Nigerian with Romelu Lukaku, who’s returning to the Serie A.
Arsenal are considering a late Osimhen bid according to reports, a player who could have a significant say in the Premier League title race were he signed.
But most recently, Chelsea seem best-positioned in the Premier League to sign the striker, who is evidently a superstar.
Osimhen could make a ‘dramatic’ move on deadline day, and it really wouldn’t be too much of a surprise at this point if the 25-year-old found his way to England.
Osimhen is a true ‘fox in the box’ and seems well suited to Premier League football, especially for a team who dominate possession in games.
That being said, journalist Fabrizio Romano shared a definitive update late on Tuesday evening which appears to have ruled Arsenal out of the race.
Chelsea still in Victor Osimhen race but Arsenal no longer interested
Romano stated clearly that as of now, only Chelsea and Al-Ahli are in talks to sign Osimhen from Napoli.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with serious interest, but it would appear that they are now out of the race as well.

Romano shared: “Chelsea and Al Ahli are still the only clubs in talks for Victor Osimhen.
“PSG NOT working on it. Chelsea are talking to Osimhen’s camp as main option on four-players list.
“Victor doesn’t plan to reduce his salary. Al Ahli are ready if Chelsea deal doesn’t happen.”
Of course, Chelsea are also rivalling Arsenal to Ivan Toney right now, with both clubs thought to be monitoring the striker’s future.
In a similar situation to Osimhen, Brentford could be forced to find a cut-price solution for Toney at the last minute, a player they’ve decided to leave out of their opening two league games.
Of course, amid all of the chaos before deadline day, Arsenal are being linked with a shock Darwin Nunez move, another name to keep an eye on before Friday’s deadline.
