Arsenal are just one of multiple teams reportedly eyeing PSV Eindhoven and Netherlands star Cody Gakpo.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are among the clubs still chasing a deal for the 23-year-old.

Arsenal are up against the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid in pursuit of Gakpo, added the report.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have also been linked with the Dutchman in recent weeks.

The way things are going, there will surely be a fierce bidding war for Gakpo’s services next year.

The attacking ace has now made it two goals from two World Cup outings for the Netherlands.

Gakpo scored his country’s only goal in the 1-1 draw with Ecuador on Friday, after just six minutes.

He picked up Davy Klaasen’s pass on the edge of the box, teed himself up, and fired inside Hernan Galindez’s near post.

It proved a crucial goal as the South Americans then equalised in the 49th minute for a share of the spoils.

Gakpo now has a staggering 17 goals and 16 assists from 31 outings for club and country this season.

After the match, Fabrizio Romano took to Twitter to say the reported Arsenal target is “something special”.

In terms of players who Arsenal could sign to make a big impact in January, Gakpo certainly looks like being one.

However, the Gunners will have plenty of competition for his services.

And if Gakpo continues to shine at the World Cup, that bidding war is only going to get fiercer.
