Tottenham are continuing to pursue Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro, and the full back now wants to join the club.
Porro has emerged as the main target for Antonio Conte and Spurs as the club look to add a new attacking right-back to the squad. However, so far, Sporting have dug in and unless their 45m Euro release clause is met, Porro appears to be staying in Portugal.

But with a fresh update just now over on Twitter, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Porro is top of the list for Spurs and that the player himself would be keen on making the move. Romano also suggests that if no deal is done in January, then Sporting might well lower their demands at that point.
Romano’s update leaves Tottenham at a tricky point in this deal. They clearly want Porro signed but if there’s a chance he’s cheaper in the summer, then Daniel Levy might well wait it out.
Matt Doherty’s improved form has made a new right-back less urgent. However, Emerson Royal could be sold, while Djed Spence is also thought to be keen on a loan move elsewhere.
TBR’s View: Tottenham should sign Porro now
What is the point in hanging around here if you’re Tottenham? There isn’t one.
They need squad improvements now and they need them quickly. Otherwise, the top four will slip away from them and then the summer window becomes all the more difficult.
It’s clear that the ‘different class’ Pedro Porro suits Spurs well. He is quick, good going forward, and a technical player who Conte will no doubt love working with. He’s an improvement on what they have as well, certainly when it comes to Royal and Spence anyway.
At £40m or so, it’s a big money deal. But Sporting aren’t going to make him that much cheaper, so it’s a price Spurs might as well pay now.
