Newcastle United are on the verge of signing Alexander Isak soon, and Fabrizio Romano believes Joao Pedro could follow the Swede to St James’ Park.
Reports revealed yesterday that the Magpies agreed a club-record £59 million fee with Real Sociedad to sign Isak. Romano claimed late last night that the striker has arrived in England to complete his move, which means that an announcement is imminent.
Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle could sign Joao Pedro after Alexander Isak
Isak will be a phenomenal signing for the Magpies, but they still need help in a few areas. Eddie Howe’s side has been linked with quite a few players over the last few weeks – none more than Watford’s Pedro.
On the Que Golazo podcast yesterday, Romano was asked about Newcastle’s transfer plans after they complete the signing of Isak. He believes Pedro could be the next one to come in at St James’ Park.
The journalist said: “We know they’re working on Joao Pedro too. Since two-three days, they have an agreement ready, with Watford ready to send official documents and then complete the deal. Watford are waiting for Newcastle.
“I can tell you, till yesterday night, they were just waiting for the documents from Newcastle’s side. Watford considered this deal agreed with Newcastle and then (the next step is) to send the documents and complete the deal with Pedro to have a medical.
“The feeling around the deal is that they are still in contact. It’s up to Newcastle now if they want to complete this negotiation or not.”

TBR View:
Isak’s arrival will be the biggest story of the summer for Newcastle, but Pedro is a player they have been heavily linked with, and a move could well go through in the coming days.
Reports have revealed that the Watford man, who is almost guaranteed to leave the Hornets before the window shuts next week, wants to join Newcastle, and it was up to the clubs to sort out the deal.
If Romano is to be believed, Watford and the Magpies are in agreement over a transfer as well, which should make this a straightforward deal to complete in the coming days.
However, we’ve entered the final week of the transfer window now, and if Newcastle don’t hurry up, another club could come in with a bid of their own to lure Pedro away.
