Chelsea are now starting to lose interest in Arsenal target Ivan Toney.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is the latest on Arsenal target Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look…

Chelsea starting to lose interest in Ivan Toney

Well – according to Sportslens – the Brentford No.17 is expected to sign for Arsenal this summer, and Edu believes he can get a deal finalised for £60m.

It comes amid another story from TEAMtalk – who state that Mikel Arteta has personally requested the signing of Toney.

There were whispers of Chelsea getting involved in the race to sign the England international.

Now – however – Romano has claimed that the Blues are starting to lose interest, and will explore younger options.

The reliable Italian journalist told Caught Offside’s The Debrief podcast: “I’m not sure Chelsea are that convinced on Ivan Toney anymore, I think they’ve started to look at different kinds of strikers in terms of age.”

In eight Premier League appearances since returning from his ban, the Northampton-born striker has scored four goals.

Toney impressively netted 20 Premier League goals in 33 appearances last season – only Erling Haaland and Harry Kane scored more.

Arsenal should still expect competition

If Chelsea pull out of the race to sign Toney, it would be a boost for Arsenal given Todd Boehly’s financial power.

However, there are still some Premier League rivals expected to compete with the Gunners.

The Mirror believe Manchester United are keen to sign Toney and are prepared to go as high as £70m to sign the 27-year-old Brentford talisman.

Elsewhere – according to Dean Jones on Give Me Sport – Tottenham could also make a move for the Englishman this summer.

Therefore – even if Chelsea do end up looking elsewhere – Arsenal do not exactly have a free run at signing Toney, not by any means.
