Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a really productive summer transfer window and they remain active ahead of tonight’s deadline.

The North Londoners have made five top-class additions and are now focussing on offloading players this evening.

Tottenham youngster Josh Keeley was shipped out on loan to Leyton Orient earlier today and now a first-teamer is on the verge of departing.

That said, it’s just emerged that Aston Villa were trying to sign him…

Aston Villa were pushing to sign Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso is on the verge of joining Real Betis but it’s just come to light that Aston Villa were really pushing to sign him earlier today, according to Fabrizio Romano.

“In the last hours, Aston Villa were pushing to get Giovani Lo Celso, but Gio really wanted to return to Real Betis,” the transfer specialist said.

Villa boss Unai Emery enjoyed a brilliant spell with Lo Celso at Villarreal, so it’s likely he was the one behind the last-minute approach.

It remains to be seen if the West Midlanders go back in for a midfielder before the window slams shut but Spurs are looking to do business of their own.

Tottenham close to agreeing Johnny Cardosa deal

Tottenham are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Johnny Cardosa from Betis.

Evidently, in discussions regarding the Lo Celso deal, Spurs enquired about Cardosa and have managed to agree a deal to potentially bring him to North London in the future.

They’ve bought a priority option on the 22-year-old and a percentage of a future sale, should they opt against signing him.
