Tottenham Hotspur have been busy on the transfer front for most of the summer, and they haven’t slowed down on deadline day either.

Spurs are now applying the finishing touches to their squad, which includes moving on players who are surplus to Ange Postecoglou’s requirements.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham have now struck a deal to sell one of their players just hours before the window shuts.

Tottenham set to offload Giovani Lo Celso to Real Betis

The player in question is Giovani Lo Celso, who is now set to complete a move to Real Betis.

Romano has declared “here we go” on Lo Celso to Betis, with the Argentina international now set to return to his former club.

Romano also confirmed that the Lo Celso deal includes Tottenham’s agreement to potentially sign Johnny Cardoso in future.

Spanish outlet Marca recently reported that Betis had made a bid of less than £5million for Lo Celso.

Lo Celso finally set to put Tottenham struggles behind him

Lo Celso has split opinion over the course of his Spurs career.

For one reason or another, his career at Tottenham has never really got going.

However, Lo Celso is spoken of very highly in Spain and in Argentina, for whom he plays regularly.

Indeed, he has won two Copa America titles with the Albiceleste, and would’ve been in the 2022 World Cup-winning squad were it not for injury.

Villarreal goalkeeper and fellow Argentine Geronimo Rulli gave Lo Celso some very high praise when he first linked up with the Yellow Submarine.

Speaking to Super Deporte back in 2022, Rulli said: “He gives us an option as a team.

“He improves us, and I won’t be surprising many by saying that he is one of the best players in the world.

“I know him well as a player and as a person, so I hope he does very well.”

Lo Celso will finally put his Spurs spell behind him and will hope to kickstart his career, while the north Londoners can get him off their wage bill.
