Fabrizio Romano says Ange Postecoglou now wants to sign £50m Chelsea player for Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou is keeping a close eye on Conor Gallagher’s situation at Chelsea.

The England midfielder has been in the news a lot over the last few months. He was linked with a move away from Chelsea in the summer, and those rumours haven’t gone away ahead of the January transfer window. Romano says Tottenham are interested.

Tottenham were linked with a move to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea on deadline day in the summer transfer window.

GiveMeSport claimed at the time that Spurs even made a £40 million bid to sign the midfielder, but that offer was turned down by the Blues.

Gallagher stayed at Chelsea and has been an important player under Mauricio Pochettino. He has played every single game this season apart from the one against Manchester United for which he was suspended. But, there is a chance he could be sold in January.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed today that Chelsea are yet to make a decision on Gallagher’s future, but Tottenham are keeping an eye on him because their manager, Ange Postecoglou, is a big fan of the £50 million-rated midfielder and would like to sign him next month.

The journalist wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Mauricio Pochettino is happy with him but now the player and club have to decide what they want to do. There’s still no agreement on a new deal and if the situation doesn’t change, Chelsea could be open to selling Conor in case of an important proposal.

“Tottenham keep following this situation closely because Ange Postecoglou is a big fan of the player.”

Gallagher would be a great fit at Tottenham

Conor Gallagher is a very good player, and we can see why Ange Postecoglou wants to bring him to Tottenham next month.

The Englishman is still only 23 years old. He is excellent on the ball, can drive forward in possession and has the quality to create chances and score goals. He would thrive in an attacking system.

Gallagher has the potential to become a top midfielder in the Premier League in the coming years, and we think he has what it takes to be a real star under Postecoglou if he joins Spurs.

However, whether Chelsea would be willing to sell Gallagher to Tottenham is anyone’s guess.
