Manchester United did plenty of business in the summer transfer window.
Indeed, the Red Devils made no fewer than four major senior signings this summer, addressing a number of problem positions.
Benjamin Sesko joined United this summer in a big-money move, while Matheus Cunha has already impressed since joining United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, there was another transfer at Old Trafford that was discussed this summer that didn’t quite come off.

Tyrique George was discussed as Manchester United option
According to Romano, at one point this summer, Chelsea and Manchester United discussed the idea of using Tyrique George in a swap deal for Alejandro Garnacho.
Garnacho ended up joining Chelsea towards the end of the summer, while George didn’t get a move away from Stamford Bridge.
George had agreed a £22m move to Fulham, but, ultimately, that fell through in the 11th hour.
“I can reveal to you that Tyrique George was at some point also an option to be included in the conversation between Chelsea and Man United for Alejandro Garnacho,” Romano said.
“It was the end of June when Tyrique George was one of the names discussed between Man United and Chelsea.”
What will happen to Tyrique George now?
Spare a thought for Tyrique George after this difficult summer transfer window.
The winger saw moves to Manchester United, Roma and Fulham all fall through in the window, and he’s ultimately remained at Chelsea.
So, what’s next for the teenager?
George will stay at Chelsea at least until January, and from there his future may be judged further.
The winger is likely to struggle for minutes at Chelsea after the signings of Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens this summer, and if he doesn’t get much gametime between now and January, he may well find it difficult to get a move in the winter transfer window.
George’s situation isn’t ideal heading into the season, that’s for sure.
