TBR Football can exclusively reveal the overall feeling at Manchester United about getting a deal for Benjamin Sesko over the line.

Manchester United have had a busy summer on the transfer front and another marquee signing is now set to arrive at Old Trafford should everything go to plan.

TBR Football confirmed on Thursday that Man United have reached agreement with Sesko and with RB Leipzig over a deal that could be worth up to £74million.

Now, TBR Football can also reveal who was the “main driver” behind the deal to bring one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga to Old Trafford.

Christopher Vivell is the ‘main driver’ behind Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United deal

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Man United were “always confident” about signing Benjamin Sesko and “moved quickly” as soon as they got the green light.

Red Devils insiders are understandably “over the moon” about signing Sesko and how their front line is shaping up, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo also at the club.

In addition, Man United director of recruitment Christopher Vivell was the driving force behind the Sesko deal, as he successfully got Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox on his side.

“Manchester United waited to hear from the player’s camp but they were always confident, but once they had the green light they moved quickly,” Bailey exclusively told TBR Football.

“Matt Hargreaves, the club’s chief negotiator, played a key role, although the main driver behind the deal was Christopher Vivell.

“He was the one who pushed hard and persuaded Ruben Amorim and Jason Wilcox that this was the right move.

“United wanted the number 9 and they are really happy to be getting Sesko – they are over the moon as their prospective new front-three.”

Vivell was previously technical director at Leipzig and Chelsea.

When Man United hope to complete Benjamin Sesko deal

We confirmed earlier today that Sesko is set to make his way to England for his medical over the next 24 hours.

As TBR Football previously revealed, Man United’s plan was always to present Sesko at Old Trafford on Saturday ahead of their pre-season clash with Fiorentina.

That will be Man United’s last friendly before the Premier League season starts, and their first fixture is one of the biggest in the football calendar – they host Arsenal at Old Trafford.

With that in mind, there’s a possibility Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres could lock horns in their competitive debuts for their respective clubs.
