Lille striker Jonathan David is expected to leave the French club this summer as both Arsenal and Newcastle United keep their eyes on proceedings in Ligue 1.

According to Fabrizio Romano, David is set to be on the move this summer. He has claimed via his Twitter account this evening that the Canadian striker will certainly be moving on. He is said to be wanted by as many as ten European clubs as things stand.

Romano’s update is a slight contradiction on reports from a few days ago which claimed that David was now wanted by just two clubs. Arsenal were one of them, as we reported on TBR at the time. Arsenal are thought to be keen on signing David to boost their attacking options, while Liverpool are also said to have watched him.

David, who has been labelled a ‘phenomenon’ because of his talent, is said to command a fee of around £30m.

TBR’s View: Arsenal A Good Match For Jonathan David

Arsenal might need that direct number nine in their squad but there is no doubting that Jonathan David would slot in nicely for the club.

He has a lot of attributes that Mikel Arteta is looking for in his squad. He’s young, quick, can finish, and is improving, something Arteta will be a big fan of.

Lille do seem resigned to losing the Canadian striker. And given Arsenal are set to spend this summer and his valuation is around the £30m mark, this could be a bargain.
